Service
Well, hello there! And thanks for visiting. I’m Michele Farnsworth and I’d be happy to fill you in on the service component of ALGB.
After graduating from LGB in 2006, I became involved in multiple committees…and I continue to enjoy serving on those teams. However, I really found an outlet for my service passions via ALGB.
Nearly 800 graduates strong, our alumni asked for a centralized location for the service opportunities available to them via their newfound LGB network. That’s why the ALGB Service Committee became one of the quadrants. Our "arm" of ALGB sponsors one group volunteer activity each quarter. We also serve as the collection spot for other opportunities offered to or requested of LGB and spread that message to our alumni. For example, this year we were approached to help man the phones at the CP Telethon. We hadn’t planned on working the phone bank, but we were able to get enough interested volunteers together to help man a VIP section…ultimately helping to raise more than $19,000 in an hour!
Some of our other volunteer efforts have included ringing bells for the Salvation Army at Christmas, Rebuilding Together in May, Habitat for Humanity in summer/fall and Adopt-a-Highway cleanup in spring and fall.
All of that being said, I sure could use your help. Please give me a shout out at mfarnsworth@humana.com. Together we can do great things... and have FUN DOING IT!!
