Yes, School Counts

Requesting school records in the hiring process is good for employers and good for students.  Educators and employers in the Greater Green Bay area, as well as in other communities across the nation, can work together to motivate students to attend and work harder in school for a better future workforce and for a better future for all. 

Here are a few ways employers can do that -

• Request school records when hiring. Ask for lifework (character, employability, lifelong learning) skills, academic transcripts and school attendance records.
• Share career information about your business with students and teachers alike via the WISCareers Web site. 
• Encourage employees to speak about careers and employment expectations to students and educators.
• Participate in Careers on Wheels .
• Assist with youth programs like the Greater Green Bay Discovery Tours , Project Management or Brown County Teen Leadership .
• Employ Youth Apprenticeship students and providing a workplace mentor.
• Participate in a business work experience program for educators such as Educators in the Workplace .
